Usher 4 Usher Syndrome Challenge
Usher syndrome is an orphan disease, impacting less than 50,000 people in the United States. Similar to ALS before the Ice Bucket Challenge, far more funding and awareness are needed to cure this rare disorder.
Rebecca Alexander, who has Usher syndrome type III, and is the daughter of Coalition Board Director David Alexander, is leading a national Usher4UsherSyndrome campaign to raise awareness.
We need your help getting the attention of Usher the singer. Challenge friends and family to create a short video dancing to an Usher song in hopes of getting Usher to perform a benefit concert to raise awareness and funds to find treatments and even a cure for Usher syndrome.
Here's how you can help:
- Make a video (with you, your dogs, your kids, etc) dancing to an Usher song and post it to social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
- Include "#usher4ushersyndrome" and "@usher" (feel free to also tag Rebecca (@reb_alexander) and Ellen Degeneres (@TheEllenShow)
- Challenge 2-3 people (friends, sports teams, sororities/fraternities, clubs, etc) to make a dance video & tag the people challenged.
- Explain in the video or in the caption that you are making the video to help raise awareness for Usher syndrome, the leading cause of deafblindness.
